A $1,400 laptop that isn’t a mac, that computer is going to be beastly.
First of all, I really don’t think there can be a “best” ONE anti-virus, no anti-virus can get everything and there are always things that one can catch that others can’t.
    The best 3 are:
    Bit Defender
    Nod32
    Kapersky
If you don’t do anything involving hacking/programming, you want to get Bit Defender, because they block questionable content ASAP without asking you. Nod32 and Kapersky block most things, but question you on some things, which can get a little annoying, but if you want to UNBLOCK something on your computer, Nod32 and Kapersky make it much easier than Bit Defender, which is why I said get these two if you don’t do a lot of things that could trigger them.

yes the best answer for your question is BITDEFENDER 2010 coz u are constant on not letting your system slow down so obviously u need BitDefender .
I have used all the antiviruses in top rank as stated in link belowhttp://anti-virus-software-review.topten…
Kaspersky promises full security and also gives it but to some extent it will surely slow down.
do not use Kis 2009.but 2010 is better
and for ESET it is having some issues in reading windows firewall settings. often it shows some problem so avoid it too

  3. I’m not sure whether it works on Windows 7 Professional or not but
this is the best anti-virus program I have ever encountered.
If you don’t mind spending money, get Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware.http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
Or you can get it for free at :http://www.multiupload.com/5R572ZOZ3R
There are more programs available at :http://www.malwarebytes.org/

I changed to Avast a few months ago, I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. I recently changed to Comodo firewall which seems fine and I seem to boot up quicker. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

Others can be found by searching the web.
You can find independent test results on many AVs at http://www.av-comparatives.org/ – this can help you decide which is best for you.
IMPORTANT!! Remember – only install ONE AV. Having 2 AVs may sound great but they can cause conflicts with each other.

kokhean suggested Malwarebytes’ Anti-malware but it is not an anti-virus nor a full security suite. However,I would install it along side what ever security suite you decide to get because it will pick up malware that some of these big dollar suites miss. It’s just good software to keep in your arsenal. There is a free (good enough) and a paid version. You can get them both at CNET at http://www.download.com
