The main difference aside from price is that the academic version of the software cannot be used for commercial purposes. So if you are a business you need to buy the commercial version.
As far as I know the accademic versions still have the same capabilities as the commercial versions.
They are exactly the same. The academic or student version is discounted to enable students to be able to afford a software that would otherwise be out of their price range. Some software companies require proof that the buyer is a student or a member of the the teaching profession.
It depends on the software. With VB6, for instance, the student version couldn’t compile programs, you could only run them in the IDE – which is fine for learning.
No, it’s still a full version. I just think it is a licensing deal.
